Halloween 2016

Happy Halloween!  Each year we add something to our Halloween decor and this year it was a Weeping Angel from Dr. Who.  It was a hit.  During the past few weeks, the kids would try to scare each other with it, like putting it outside the bathroom door or in a dark bedroom.

I usually buy costumes every other year and this was the year the  kids had to make do with whatever they could find in the house.  Jacob was a zombie Native American. Trent wore his sumo suit that he wore 2 years ago.

Trent and Jacob went trick or treating with a group of neighborhood boys.  they went for 2 hours and each got 2 full pumpkins of candy.

Trent's sumo suit won the funniest costume award at our ward party.

When the kids were younger, I was against big kids trick or treating, but now that my kids are big, why not?  they like candy too, it gives them something to do and keeps them out of trouble.  In our area, most high schooler's trick or treat.  In Trent's seminary class, they took a poll, and only one kid was not allowed to trick or treat.  Everybody felt bad for that person.

Emily opted to stay home and do homework.  she also helped pass out candy and apparently doesn't like her picture taken while she's doing homework.

Japanese extra credit if you carved a pumpkin with spooky kanji.  Emily's pumpkin says "reaper".  but nobody could do the word blood, because it's a very easy kanji and last year apparently everybody carved "blood".

Jacob's pumpkin (wolf)

Trent's sumo suit was also very popular at school.  Emily said everybody was talking about a kid in a sumo suit, and she kept saying, "that's my brother!"  in math class, the guy next to her even said, "hey I just got a text from a friend saying there's someone in a sumo suit!".  we're definitely getting our money's worth out of that costume.
