Trent turned 11 on March 8th! For his party, we took a few friends to see Oz the Great and Powerful in 3D. They all loved it. Ryan and I were a little bored. He requested a cake with frosting balloons.

The biggest thing about turning 11 is being done with the cub scout program and moving up to 11 year old scouts. The Blue and Gold Banquet was on his birthday! extra special. They did a special bridge ceremony for all the boys turning 11 in the past few months.
Trent has gone above and beyond in cub scouts--he's earned his webelos (4 activity badges) and arrow of light, (8 activity badges) the highest honor you can get in Cub Scouts. And then went on to earn a total of 15 activity badges, which are hard work! We hope his eagerness will help him get his eagle early on.
One dad, whose son just turned 8, leaned over to Ryan after Trent was awarded with all these awards, and asked how do you do it? Ryan joked, "you get laid off! and have a lot of extra time to work on scouts with you son." Ryan and Trent spent a LOT of time last summer doing scouting.

The new 11 year old scout leader, welcoming in the boys. His son is next to Trent. A bit of a mountain man. He promised to turn these boys into men and teach them how to live off the land and get by with only their wit and brains. It's going to be an intense exciting year for scouting, I think!
Just a few more things about Trent--he's my most sensitive, caring child. At school, when he earns prizes, he takes prizes that he thinks Emily or Jacob would like instead of taking a prize for himself. (last week it was One Direction stickers for Emily)
Also, a teacher came up to me a few weeks ago to tell me how thoughtful Trent was on popcorn Friday. Trent had 4 quarters, enough for 4 bags of popcorn and was giving 3 of his quarters away to people who had forgotten quarters. and not just sharing quarters with his friends, like many kids do. Random kids, and also to a girl in his class who doesn't have many friends and hardly ever gets to buys popcorn on popcorn Friday. That made me so happy when I heard that!
We love you Trent and are so glad you are in our family!!

Jill, you are so blessed to have a boy like this. I remember Trent from when he was a "handful" he was little, little, little. So happy he is so compassionate. That's an incredible quality to have. Love you,
