festival weekend

Trent's birthday weekend was very busy!  Both my parents and my in-laws flew in on Friday.  Saturday, Emily and Trent were involved in the festival, both for voice solo and group pieces.  where you sing in front of the judge.  We were all there for about 5 hours.  sing and then wait.  sing and then wait.   My mom came prepared with an entire purse full of treasures to keep Jacob busy.

Here is Trent's video--I love his soprano voice and hope his voice never changes!  :)  I accompanied Trent and Ryan accompanied Emily.

and Here is Emily's video.

you are rated on a scale of 1 to 4, 1 being the best.  Any kind of a 1 (1-, 1 or 1+) is great, with 1+ being very, very rare.  in 6th and 7th grade, Emily got 1-'s, and was very happy.  This year Trent got a 1 and Emily a 1+!!!  wow for both of them.  Emily got to experience fame for a day.  At school everyone kept congratulating her in the halls and kids she didn't even know were coming up to her and saying, "Are you the girl who got the 1+?  congratulations!"  It was fun for her.

a little birthday flan for lunch...

Afterwards, we all headed over to the family fun center for some laser tag, pizza, video arcade etc.  Trent loves that place.  then home for cake and ice cream and presents.
