igloo campout

last weekend Ryan and Trent went igloo camping with Trent's boy scout troop up on Mt. Rainier.  It was a three hour drive from our house, then they snow shoed in about a mile to the igloo spot.  Spent 6-7 hours making the igloos, slept in them, then wrecked them in the morning.  Trent had so much fun!  Ryan...survived.  Both said it was really cold at night and they didn't sleep much.

They made 4 igloos for 21 people.  In the morning, boys were getting their pictures taken sitting and standing on top of the igloos before they were demolished.  Trent stood up on his igloo, it collapsed and Trent fell into the hole.  It was a great story that he loves to tell.

Before they left, I asked the scout master, "Can you promise me that Trent won't die, or get frostbite?".  He said, "yes, to the first question.  No to the second."  I felt much better knowing that our scoutmaster is an ER doctor, and that this was his fifth igloo campout!
