so we did...but when we cracked it open there was no milk. not a drop. he was very disappointed. fast forward a few days later, back at the grocery store, we explained our sad coconut story to the produce guy. he then told us that you have to shake it and listen for liquid. if you don't hear anything, the coconut is old and the milk has dried up. he let Jacob pick a new coconut for free. And after shaking like every coconut in the store, then narrowing it down to the top 5, then top 3, he finally selected the best one that sounded like it had the most liquid inside.
We took it home and he cracked it open with a hammer and discovered that coconut milk is gross!
this is how we entertain ourselves in the summer.
