that is what the news was calling this past week of snow and ice storms, resulting in an entire week off of school and work for Ryan. also, lost power for 3 days for most of our area, hospital and stores. luckily, we never lost power!! and it was only like 6 inches of snow!! Being from Idaho, I thought this was rather funny how everything shut down for just a few inches, but I'll take a snow day (or week) anytime.
I was amazed at my kids endurance and tolerance of the snow. They literally played all day every day, with a short break for lunch. and it was nice that we have snake hill (yes, there are snakes during the summer. creepy) and the trails directly behind our house, so we didn't need to drive somewhere to go sledding. and also extra nice that Jake is old enough to go out with his big sister and brother watching him and I didn't need to be there the entire day. I would go outside every hour or so to check on them, take pictures and bring extra dry gloves.

and then in the blink of an eye it was gone!! the rain came and washed it away. We don't even care that our last day of school has been pushed back to June 19th. June is rainy and cold here anyways. summer doesn't come till after July 4th. this was totally worth it!

A whole week off of school. If only they could have seen what we went to school in. I recall several times sliding all over in the big station wagon on the way to school. Oh, the good old days. How fun!
That is fun - a special winter break, complete with snow :). Most of our snow days are extreme weather, and so it is too cold to go outside and enjoy it, like last year when we got a freak cold snap that was 40 below.
