1. Clinique Lid Smoothies--starts off as a cream and dries to a powder. The metal applicator feels cool and refreshing against my skin and it's the perfect "lip gloss" shape--but it's for your eyes! great texture, and lasted all day for me, although some reviews I read were complaining about it not lasting long. comes in 12 colors. check it out at your next trip to the make up counter.

2. Payphone, by Maroon 5 here's the clean version. my new summer fav.
3. Pizza rolls. These pizza rolls. Easy enough that my kids can make them by themselves and everybody loves them.
4. summer reading program. For middle schoolers, the public library has a different incentive program. Read three books, write up a paragraph on each, and earn one free book. I don't think they realized that there are kids out there like Emily, who read a ton. about 3 books a week. She wants to have earned 10 books, at the end of our 10 week summer. so far she's on track. one week in and she's brought home one book. Her lifelong goal is to have a bedroom just like her Aunt Lynne's, with an entire wall full of books.
5. read aloud time. In the summers, we have summer read aloud time, where I read a chapter book to the kids. This summer it's, Little House In the Big Woods. and this week, we made the molasses Christmas candy, talked about in the book. to say, nobody liked it, would be a huge understatement. Trent's classic quote, "it's sad to be a pioneer" (in reference to the gross candy, and Laura's corn cob doll)

Farmer Boy is what I am reading to Derek right now, and I have to say he ate so much better than Laura did as a child. They had a pantry that was always full of cake and pies :). You should read them that one instead and then make pie :).
And we love pizza rolls! We have been making a version of them that uses Rhodes rolls and it has been both kids favorite meal for about 5 years now. So easy, and so good :).
